The Brief
During the 90's our demand for greenhouse crops (tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers in particular) and exotic veg started to grow as we began to penetrate the food-service sector. We soon became a large buyer of these products from the Netherlands. The Dutch are respected throughout the World for their expertise in protected crop production. Rotterdam is also one of the busiest ports in the world which handles much of Europe's exotic veg imports. Therefore, it was a natural progression that in 1999 we embarked on a joint-venture procurement and sales company based near Rotterdam. The success of this joint-venture triggered a desire for us to have our own operation in Holland.
