Vitaal started in 2004 with one member of staff, Robert Voskamp, based in a small office selling around 30-50 pallets per week. We now have 6 staff at a large suite of offices in Poeldijk and 3 staff in Emmen. The product range has broadened considerably as has the number of countries around Europe we serve regularly. Sales/procurement from Vitaal is now running at around 700-1000 pallets per week and growing.
We have recently formed a new division in Poeldijk called Solvit Handling. We have at our disposal 6,000m2 (65,000 sq ft) of warehouse space, 10 loading docks and 4 large variable cool stores, in a modern (4 years old) purpose built facility. We are fully BRC level A (version 6) certified. In addition to carrying out handling and storage for our own operation in Holland we are also providing these services to third parties.
Opening a business in the Netherlands was a bold move as the competition is fierce and the Dutch are hugely experienced and adept at produce marketing. However, we did it and it’s paid off with dividends. Vitaal now accounts for around 25% of Group turnover and its role in our growth cannot be underestimated.
