Spain is the biggest European producer and exporter of fruit & veg. Almeria province alone, which represents just 1.8% of Spain’s landmass, supplies an incredible 51% of the country’s total fruit & veg exports amounting to €3.09bn (2020).
So, we’re proud to announce another major investment for the Nationwide Group – a new 4,000 sq mtr depot in El Ejido, Almeria in the heart of this vitally important European growing hub.
At Evesham we’re investing £3m in a 1200 pallet cold-store extension which is under construction now. The new depot in Spain now means we have valuable cold-storage & distribution facilities in three of the main fresh produce hubs in Europe – Evesham, Rotterdam & Almeria.
