What’s it like to work for Nationwide?

“After working for a number of years as a chef, changing my career was a huge risk as all I knew was how to cook. Since joining Nationwide Produce, the business has given me numerous opportunities.

After putting in the hours in my first year and learning everything I could about the fresh produce industry, I had my first appraisal with Director of Nationwide Produce, Phil Johnson. Phil recognised my efforts and we discussed my career goals. He took on board my interest in taking on more of a trading role. After my appraisal I was given the chance to trade full-time and give up all my previous responsibilities. With no track record of trading, this took a lot of trust from management and the board of Directors.

In my previous employments I was always promised things but it was never followed up. Since joining Nationwide Produce, the company has stood by me every step of the way. I feel valued, motivated and supported.

To say I started off driving vans and being a general dog’s body to now fully-fledged Trader at the Evesham office just three and a half years down the line, is incredible. This is not only down to my hard work but also the opportunities given to me and the faith Nationwide bestowed in me as an employee. ”
Adam Mobbs – Trader
“As a woman in the male-dominated workplace of South Africa in the 90s, finding a company where I felt valued and appreciated was a rare experience. However, I eventually found myself working for one of the biggest fruit exporters and it was the happiest I had ever been at work.

When I moved to the UK in 2003, I took a more junior role to pursue my goals of settling down and starting a family, but a change in management left me feeling unhappy and unfulfilled.

In 2015, I was offered the opportunity to join Nationwide Produce and it was a complete life changer for me. At Nationwide, every single staff member is integral to the success of the company, and I finally found my happy place again.

Throughout the years, I have developed my skills in logistics, customs clearance, and due diligence. Post-Brexit, the company called on my expertise in customs where I supported the wider group tackling new Brexit processes. I take pride in working for a forward-thinking company that is in a strong position thanks to its infrastructure and European offices.

Once again, I feel valued and appreciated, and I'm grateful to work at Nationwide, which truly is a fantastic place to be.”
Tania Mayston – Logistics Manager
