One firm’s long-standing commitment to the wholesale sector has been recognised with the FPC Fresh Award for Wholesale Supplier of the Year.

Nationwide Produce Plc was recognised by the judges as: “A great family business with the ability to adapt and change while maintaining its traditions.”.

Bernard O’Malley started the business from his home in Southport, Merseyside nearly 40 years ago and has seen it grow to become truly international with operations in Holland & Spain as well as Northern Ireland and several sites in England supplying over 160 different produce lines from potatoes to pomegranates from around the world.

Tim O’Malley, group managing director of Nationwide Produce received the award on behalf of the company from FPC chief executive and chair of the judging panel, Nigel Jenney and comedian Patrick Kielty at a glamorous gala-dinner ceremony held at the InterContinental London Park Lane on 5 June.

Tim O’Malley said: “We’re delighted with this award because we started in business back in 1975 supplying solely wholesale markets. Nationwide has grown considerably since then and expanded into many other sectors of the market….but we’ve never turned our back on wholesale! It always has been and always will be an integral part of our business so this award means a lot to us. Thank you.”
